Hollandsk brand, som gør en forskel i 7 europæiske lande
Our dream just came true: Yumeko has been recertified as a B Corp, having achieved one of the highest scores globally in the textile industry.
Business as a force for good is what B Corp is all about. Only companies that pass B Corp’s strict and thorough review, looking at an organisation’s positive impact, may become B Corp certified. This designation, a source of pride for brands around the world, is more than just a label: it proves that we are committed to creating a more just world.
Recertification procedure
Yumeko is proud to have been B Corp certified since 2022. We are required to recertify every three years, going through the entire certification process to show how we are still taking action to create a fairer, more sustainable world. We put together a dedicated recertification team to get to grips with this incredibly complex process – which lasts several months, involves reems of paperwork and covers everything from supply chains to office teams. No stone is left unturned. But that level of detail is B Corp’s strength. Besides being an attractive label for consumers, it challenges companies to continue growing in the right direction and pursue greater impact.
We are delighted to announce that we passed our B Corp recertification with flying colours. Having achieved an outstanding score of 127.6 points, we can call ourselves a global leader in the textile sector. To put that into perspective: the threshold for B Corp certification is 80 points, and an average company scores around 50. In 2022, the year we first became certified, we scored 97.4 points.
We improved the most in the impact areas ‘workers’ and ‘environment’. Environmental concerns have been at the core of our business since day one, and we made significant headway in that impact area. Tamara Dekker, Yumeko’s Impact Manager, shares her thoughts: ‘Over the past year, we have invested significant time in making life cycle assessments of our products. This has given us detailed insights into the majority of our products’ positive and negative impact in each part of the supply chain, enabling us to take targeted action to gradually reduce our footprint. We have also shifted our focus more toward recycling and upcycling, such as by developing our range of bunting, making sleeping masks from scraps or transforming overstock into flannel pyjamas.’
Employee welfare, part of B Corp’s ‘workers’ impact area, is naturally a key part of a company’s positive impact. That is why we entered into a partnership with OpenUp to give all of our team members and family members free, unlimited support from psychologists and lifestyle experts. We also produced a Yumeko employee handbook, set up a company emergency response team and appointed an external confidential advisor.
This fantastic score reaffirms our status as a pioneer in sustainable bed linen and bath textiles. It is an achievement we are incredibly proud of.
